How Can severe Swelling In The Foot And Ankle Be Treated?

well my sister is diabetic and her right ankle and top of foot is swollen, and she d complain of her arch soar and painful for a few days now her foot is swollen. She took a water pill earlier she notice late this evening it was swollen what shoule she do

The water pill [or the diuretic-as they say in medical lingo], needs to be changed. Also if she is taking Amlodipine or any other Calcium channel blocker, she has to substitute it for some other BP medicine. This is as I am guessing that she has high BP complaint too as most Diabetics do.
Otherwise in normal persons, taking Water Pill can be too deleterious. This is if she is taking for so called 'weight loss over the counter therapy'.
Second thing is to check her blood Uric acid levels as all Diabetics are prone to produce more Uric acid if Sugar is not controlled. This can lead to a gout like complaint.
